ISAH, Leibniz University

The Institute of Sanitary Engineering and Waste Management (ISAH) is part of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy at Leibniz Universität Hannover. As a scientific institution, ISAH has been involved in university teaching and research for many years. Since the department “Urban Water Management” became independent under Prof. Dr.-Ing. G. Kehr in 1939.

ISAH has been developed into an established research institute with a large number of staff and a wide range of expertise. In particular, the wealth of ideas of Prof. Dr.-Ing. C.-F. Seyfried, who took over the management of the institute in 1970, and his open-mindedness towards everything new were prerequisites for a successful university professorship. From 1995 to 2017 Prof. Dr.-Ing. Karl-Heinz.

The Environmental Technology division in CLRI helps Indian Leather and allied Industries to manage the liquid, solid and gaseous pollutants generated during the manufacturing processes. Chrome recovery and reuse , water recovery and reuse from tannery effluents by Reverse Osmosis , enzymatic liquefaction of fleshing , energy recovery from leather fleshings with CETP sludge , chromed leather shavings waste, slaughterhouse solid wastes ,whole sale vegetable market complex waste are some of the accomplished results. Design from Environmental Technolgy Division ,commission, execution and performance evaluation of Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP/ETPs/STPs) through high rate anaerobic (UASB) and aerobic (MBR) technologies have been accredited credibly well by the end users.

The BioMaCon GmbH was established in 2003 with its headquarter located in Rehburg, Germany. The company develops and works with cutting-edge technology: modern machinery and the latest software for an optimal and sustainable conversion of biomass into energy. Even in case of the pyrolysis process, the output depends on the input. If optimal Biochar is produced with lowest emission levels and almost all the heat is utilized, a technically feasible optimum is achieved. Researches show that the BIOMACON machines get close to this process optimum. Since 2013 a full scale pyrolysis plant is operated in the botanical gardens in Berlin within the TerraBoGa project of Berlin University, which aims to analyze energy and material flow management cycles for the generation of Terra Preta with respect to resource efficiency and climate mitigation.
